The Protocol

The Nutrition Intelligence Protocol (NIP) is ONIC's operational framework for how every product certification submission moves through the system. It defines the entry points, the agents that process data, the AI screening layer, the scientific firewall, and the governance structures that make all final determinations. The NIP is not a standard - it is the infrastructure through which standards are applied.

Every submission follows the same path. No preferential access. No shortcuts. Industry cannot cross the scientific firewall. The IRB holds all determinative authority - independent of commercial interest at every layer.

Protocol Principles

Scientific Independence

The IRB operates behind a firewall from industry. No commercial interest can influence the scientific determination at any layer. Every determination is documented, auditable and permanent.

Single Entry Point

Every applicant - regardless of size, market position or relationship - enters through the same gateway with identical access conditions. The NIP does not permit preferential routing.

AI as Advisory

The AI Intelligence Engine performs pre-screening and dossier analysis. It informs - it does not determine. The IRB holds all determinative authority and cannot be overridden by an AI output.

Consumer Verifiability

Every certified badge traces to an IRB Scientific Determination in the ONIC Registry. Consumers can verify the chain of custody end-to-end, from the on-pack mark to the institutional record.
